Just picked up Destiny

Upgraded to an Xbox One on black Friday and finally got Destiny. Only had time to do the first mission and get completely lost in the tower. Still not sure what all is going on, but all I want to do is leave work early and go play some more. Xbox live ID is the same as my user name here, just without the ! (I had a burner account with this name first, then made a real account so added the ! to keep it the same). Anyways, thats all for now, time to leave work yet?

Be warned, Destiny will consume all your time if you let it.

Also, do not buy the $30 level-up to 25. Getting to level 20 is the fun stuff. Nearly everything after that is a grind. It can be fun, but it can also feel pointless.

Bungie is constantly tweaking the game as well, so be prepared for the inevitable let-down when they change something you enjoy doing/using.

Yea, I got it for free with the Xbox One deal ($60 credit to the MS store) so not paying any more money. Though it came with the Taken King and all the expansions. I think if I use one of the codes I get up to level 25 right away. Not sure I want to though. Rather work my way up normally.

Save that boost for your next character. Play through from the start the first time, it’s really quite enjoyable.

I played extensively the past year, but Destiny took too much of my time, and Bungie/Activision made me very angry with how they rolled out the Takeout King update, so I have pretty much stopped playing entirely.

There is a lot of good stuff, and also some major frustrations.
